The Family and Human Studies Department teaches a wide variety of courses. Applicants are not expected to be qualified to teach all of the courses offered in the Department. Successful applicants will be assigned to courses that match their area of expertise. Please attach additional documents (Resume, copies of credentials or transcripts, etc.) for consideration. As directed by SLCC Policy, Adjunct positions are semester by semester contract with no guarantee of continued employment. Job Summary

Under the general supervision of the Department Chair and a faculty mentor and depending upon qualifications, the successful candidate will prepare and teach early childhood development and/or family related courses assigned by the department.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties

1. Prepare and teach Early Childhood and/or Family Relations courses in the Department.
2. Assess and maintain student performance records.
3. With the assistance of a full-time faculty mentor, develop course outlines and syllabi.
4. Support professional commitment to the Department, School and College mission and values.
5. Maintain a professional working relationship with students, colleagues and the community.
6. Maintain communication with students through office hours, email or telephone.
7. Attend required College, School and Department training meetings.
8. If provided, follow the Department syllabus.
9. Grade and return tests, assignments and other student generated materials in a timely manner.
10. Submit final grades on or before the College deadline.

Preferred Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications

Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in Early Childhood Development, Early Childhood Education, Family and Human Studies, Child Development, or a closely related field with at least 15 semester hours or 22 quarter hours of upper division or graduate-level courses in the topic being taught.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

1. Ability to communicate subject matter to students.
2. Ability to use a computer and other instructional technologies.
