Job Summary

Provide classroom and lab instruction in all aspects of the commercial cookery program while working with students in an open-entry competency-based classroom and lab environment.

•This is a pooled position the department will review applications when positions become available.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties

1.Follow the course curriculum outline, syllabus and online learning management system to deliver competency based culinary instruction.
2.Evaluate the performance of pre-prescribed exit competencies for student achievement.
3.Maintain industry perspective in courses, as well as the active awareness of professional/industry trends and opportunities.
4.Coordinate Student ADA accommodation requests following college policy and procedures.
5.Answer student questions and provides necessary feedback on student progress in a timely manner.
6.Manage the learning environment through keeping accurate records, submitting grades and other reports on time.
7.Utilize computer based skills (i.e., software, LMS, and report writing skills) when necessary.
8.Support department assessment initiatives.
9.Complete all required trainings.
10.Maintain technical currency in the area of expertise.
11.Demonstrate and support professional commitment to division, school, and college mission and values.
12.Follow SLCC policies and procedures.

Preferred Qualifications

1.One or more years teaching experience.
2.Industry certifications or licensure in the area of expertise.

Minimum Qualifications

1. Associate’s degree, or Graduate of an ACFEF apprenticeship program, or ACF certifiable at a sous chef level or higher.
2. Meet the State Department of Education’s requirements for a vocational-technical instructor in the state of registration.
3. Possess or is working on advanced-degree in the area of expertise or retain equivalent industry credentials.
4. Have training in workforce education and adult learning styles as an educator at an accredited secondary, post-secondary or vocational institution.

•As directed by SLCC Policy, Adjunct positions in the School of Applied Technology are hourly, month to month positions with no guarantee of continued employment.
