Job Summary

The Motorcycle and Outdoor Power Equipment Technology Program is designed to prepare students for entry level positions in the motorcycle and outdoor power equipment and recreational vehicle service and repair industry. This position is responsible for increasing student learning through delivery of high quality instruction. Assessing student learning and advising students. Competencies and tasks for this position will be consistent with educational principles of the college which focus on meeting the learning needs of students.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties

1. Provide effective classroom and laboratory instruction to students using methods and materials appropriate to the subject matter.
2. Manage a classroom and lab.
3. Participation in departmental and college professional activities.
4. Maintaining accurate and timely student’s records as required.
5. Maintaining currency and depth of knowledge in assigned area of responsibility.
6. Maintaining appropriate standards of professional conducts and ethics.
7. Communicating with excellent written and oral skills in English.
8. Term Teaching Agreement: hours may vary. Flexibility in schedule, including availability for day, evening, weekend and summer assignments.

Preferred Qualifications

1. Teaching experience preferred.
2. Industry certifications related to specific classes being taught.
3. Bachelors’ Degree and six (6) years of work experience.
4. SkillsUSA student program advising experience.

Minimum Qualifications

1. Bachelors’ Degree in a related area of study AND three (3) years of professional experience in the field
Associates Degree in a related area of study AND six (6) years of professional experience in the field
Ten (10) years of professional field experience.

2. A valid Utah driver’s license.
3. Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability and ethnic backgrounds of community college students and the campus community
4. Proficiency with diagnostic tools, power tools and hand tools used by motorcycle/power equipment technicians.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

1. Current motorcycle and outdoor power equipment experience required in all technical areas. Three (3) to ten (10) years industry experience required (based on educational experience).
2. Ability to plan, organize, instruct and facilitate educational courses of quality.
3. Computer skills: Microsoft Office, Outlook.

1. As directed by SLCC policy, adjunct positions are semester by semester contracts with no guarantee of continued employment.
