Job Summary

Under general supervision, teaches aviation related courses in the Professional Pilot program to prepare students for an Associates of Science degree and a career in aviation. Faculty member may be assigned to any SLCC location and teach in either day or evening programs.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties

1. Follows the course curriculum outline, prepares and delivers lectures and other classroom activities.
2. Keeps accurate classroom records.
3. Coordinates Student ADA accommodation requests following college policy and procedures.
4. Answer student questions and provide necessary feedback on student progress.
5. Follows SLCC policies and procedures.
6. Supports department assessment initiatives.
7. Meets College and department deadlines and evaluates student work in a timely manner including submitting final grades on time.
8. Completes required training and attends department meetings.
9. Demonstrates and supports professional commitment to division, school, and college mission and values.

Preferred Qualifications

Master Degree preferred*

2. Three (3) years of related work in aviation required

3. Teaching experience preferred.

4. Qualified to teach in Part 141 FAA Flight Training Program.

6. Advanced Ground Instructor (AGI and Instrument Ground Instrustor (IGI) certificate or Certified Flight Instructor Instructment (CFII) required.

Minimum Qualifications

1. Bachelor Degree in a related field required.

2. Must pass TSA clearance for GA badge and student training.

3. FAA Certification required for ground instructors

4. Additional related work experience may be substittued for educational requirements on a one-for-one basis.**

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

1. Knowledge and teaching ability in:
Private, Instrument, Commercial, and Flight Instructor Flight Trainign courses
Aircraft Systems and Functions
Air Traffic Control Procedures and Systems
Aircraft Dispatch Applications and Regulations
2. Demonstrated knowledge of Part 141 of FAA regulations.

Special Instructions

As directed by SLCC Policy, Adjunct positions are semester by semester contract with no guarantee of continued employment.
