Job Summary

Under general supervision, teaches aviation related simulator lab courses in the Aviation Technology Professional Pilot program to prepare students for an Associates of Science degree and a career in aviation. Adjunct member may be assigned to any SLCC location and teach in either day or evening lab sections.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties

1. Follows the course curriculum outline, prepares syllabi, provides student instruction in rotor-wing or fixed wing simulators, and prepares other simulator session activities.
2. Keeps accurate student records.
3. Coordinates Student ADA accommodation requests following college policy and procedures.
4. Answer student questions and provide necessary feedback on student progress.
5. Follows SLCC policies and procedures.
6. Supports department assessment initiatives.
7. Meets College and department deadlines and evaluates student work in a timely manner including submitting final grades on time.
8. Completes required training and attends department meetings.
9. Demonstrates and supports professional commitment to division, school, and college mission and values.

Preferred Qualifications

1. Bachelor’s Degree preferred*

2. Three (3) years of related work in aviation required

3. Simulator Teaching experience preferred.

4. Qualified to teach in Part 141 FAA Flight Training Program.

6. AGI and/or IGI

7. Simulator Teaching experience

Minimum Qualifications

1. Commercial Pilot Certificate appropriate to simulator lab assigned.

2. CFI Private Simulator lab.*

3. CFII Certificate appropriate to simulator lab assigned for Instrument Simulator Lab training.*

*4. Commercial Certificate appropriate to simualtor lab assigned and one year simulator teaching expereince can be substituted for CFI and CFII requirements.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

1. Knowledge and teaching ability in:
Private and Instrument flight operations
Aircraft Systems and Functions
Air Traffic Control Procedures and Systems

2. Demonstrated knowledge of Part 141 of FAA regulations.
