Job Summary

Under general supervision of the program coordinator, the faculty member will teach various Medical Assistant evening/day classes including such courses as fundamentals of medical terminology, clinical pathology, medical coding, patient care, and other related subjects including hematology, microbiology, and urinalysis.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties

1. Prepare and teach classes in the Medical Assistant Program.
2. Participate in program activities to maintain accreditation standards.
3. Keep accurate classroom records.
4. Coordinates Student ADA accommodation requests following college policy and procedures.
5. Develop, distribute and adhere to well-organized and appropriately detailed course outlines and syllabi.
6. Participate in curriculum development, innovations in the delivery and design of Medical Assistant courses and emphases and textbook selection.
7. Demonstrate and support professional commitment to the Department, Division and College.
8. Maintain regularly scheduled office hours.
9. Meets College and department deadlines and evaluates student work in a timely manner including submitting grades on time.
10.Demonstrate professional development and contributions in the Medical Assistant discipline.
11. Participate in the use of instructional technology.
12. Attendance at New Faculty Orientation sessions is required.
13. Completes all required training.
14. Demonstrate and supports professional commitment to division, school, and college mission and values.
15.Technologically literate and innovative.
16.Accept other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Certificate in Medical Assistant required; an A.S. degree in related discipline or currently working towards related A.S. degree.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

1. Three or more years clinical experience as a Medical Assistant.
2. Demonstrated strength in teaching community college courses either as an adjunct or full-time faculty.
3. A breadth of knowledge and experience in the field of Medical Assistant.
4. The understanding of various learning styles and ability to employ related teaching strategies.
5. The ability to employ instructional technology appropriately both in the classroom and as a tool for distance learning.
6. A commitment to the mission and values of the community college.
7. The willingness to accept responsibility for professional and personal growth.
