Job Summary

Under general supervision of the Associate Dean, the faculty member will teach various Medical Assistant evening/day classes including such courses as fundamentals of medical terminology, clinical pathology, medical coding, patient care, and other related subjects including hematology, microbiology, and urinalysis.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties

1. Prepare and teach classes in the Medical Assistant Program.
2. Keep accurate classroom records.
3. Develop, distribute and adhere to well-organized and appropriately detailed course outline and syllabus.
4. Participate in curriculum development, innovation in the delivery and design of Medical Assistant courses and emphases and textbook selection.
5. Participate in the use of instructional technology.
6. Literacy in technology and innovation.
7. Demonstrate professional development and contributions to the Medical Assistant discipline.
8. Completes all required training.
9.Demonstrate and support a professional commitment to Division, School, and College mission and values.
10. Participate in program activities to maintain accreditation standards.
11. Coordinates student ADA accommodation requests following college policy and procedures.
12. Meets College, Division, and department deadlines and evaluates student work in a timely manner including submitting grades on time.
13. Attend on boarding orientation sessions as required.
14. Accepts other duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications

Associates Degree, 1-year teaching experience.

Minimum Qualifications

Certificate in Medical Assistant required. Current CMA (AAMA) Certification.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

1. Demonstrated strength in teaching community college courses either as an adjunct or full-time faculty.
2. A breadth of knowledge and experience in the field of Medical Assistant.
3. The understanding of various learning styles and ability to employ related teaching strategies.
4. The ability to employ instructional technology both in the classroom and as a tool for distance learning.
5. A commitment to the mission and values of the community college.
6. The willingness to accept responsibility for professional and personal growth.
