Job Summary

This position leads the delivery of small to medium scope IT projects of moderate complexity that involve obtaining agreement/adoption of project objectives and deliverables by key sponsors. Ensures that a project plan is developed and maintained to track deliverables and progress toward completion on time. Uses industry project management methodologies and tools throughout project lifecycle. This position typically works under limited supervision and direction. The person in this position will regularly exercise discretion regarding IT’s role in project.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties

Meeting with stake holders to assess and organize software implementations from an IT perspective. This includes attending project meetings.
Organizing IT resources and scheduling to meet the project requirements on time.
Communicating with project stake holders including functional project managers and leads, vendor project managers, vendor technical and functional leads to manage expectations and keep the projects moving forward.
Preparing project documents to keep projects on track and organized.
Reporting project status and issues to IT management timely and regularly so problems can be addressed rapidly and reporting to executive level managers is complete and accurate.
Professional development and ongoing training.
Other duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications

• A combination of Higher Ed and business experience
• Experience integrating Ellucian products particularly Banner
• Systems Administration experience
PMP certification

Minimum Qualifications

• A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, IT or related field with courses in IT project management

• A minimum of 3 years experience as a manager or as a technical lead on IT projects

• A minimum of 1 year experience as a systems or programmer analyst

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Knowledge of managing or acting as technical lead for IT projects including SaaS/Cloud and on premise enterprise class software implementation and integration

• Advanced understanding and experience of project management principles, methods and software tools

• Able to manage multiple projects with proven experience in successfully managing and implementing multiple initiatives on behalf of IT for partners in the functional areas of the College.

• Able to effectively gather project requirements and assess the most effective ways to implement software including buy or build analysis

• Have significant knowledge of software development methods

• Have the ability to use SQL and PL/SQL to query the ERP database for data extracts and to complete integration tasks

• Have significant knowledge of the principles of system authentication and authorization including SSO methods

• Able to communicate effectively in writing and speaking both one on one and group situations

• Able to lead, influence, communicate and interact with people at all levels across SLCC as well as with external partners

• Able to understand and communicate complex technical systems and concepts

• Demonstrated effectiveness prioritizing project task conflicts

• Must have the ability to facilitate meetings, lead discussions, and do presentations

• Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of diverse people, ability, culture, ethnic background, to maintain good working relationships across the College.

• Ability to work with all groups in a diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic background of community college students, faculty and staff, including those with disabilities.
