Job Summary

Serve as a Veterans Services Specialist at the Taylorsville Redwood Campus assisting with student records, perform office functions relative to the VA enrollment process and the maintenance of student records. Provide accurate Veterans educational information to new students. Contact and provide support for new Veterans enrolling at SLCC.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties

Serve as a Veterans Services Specialist at the Taylorsville Redwood Campus assisting veterans, perform office functions relative to the VA enrollment process and the maintenance of student records.
Contact all new student Veterans and provide accurate Veterans educational information.
Assisting with research to determine roadblocks Veterans may have beginning college and assist them to navigate through the roadblocks.
Assist in compiling data on attendance and completion rates

Essential Responsibilities and Duties Continued

Assist veterans and dependent students with all aspects of SLCC enrollment
Contact Veterans who have completed paperwork but have not enrolled to identify potential enrollment barriers

Preferred Qualifications

Develop, organize and complete projects effectively
Work well with students and the community
Manage work effectively in a busy, changing environment
Strong written and oral communication skills
Ability to use MicroSoft Suite
Ability to work with little supervision

Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent
One year work experience required
Additional related education/training may be substituted for work experience.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Good Listening, written and communication skills.
Customer Service and problem-solving skills.
Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
Reception and General Office procedures.
Knowledge of College policies, procedures and programs (strongly preferred).
Ability to organize and multitask
