Job Summary

Finger paint, sing, dance, get paid to play with play dough. Join our energetic team to make a difference in the world, and have fun by providing children ages 5 and under with excellent child care and appropriate guided learning experiences.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties

In addition to complying with child care licensing rules applicants get to write creative weekly lesson plans, work with children on fun and simple goals, maintain both child portfolios and progress documentation. Each teacher gets to monitor the classroom while singing and playing, attend engaging monthly trainings, and take education classes that correlate with accreditation standards.
Providers are responsible for the direct supervision of children in their care. They are responsible for paperwork associated with progressing children on individual goals. They must be able to work with diverse populations and communicate with parents daily. Keeping a clean classroom, and serving food is necessary.

Experience working with babies and children.

Fun and flexible
Course work in FHS classes or classes from the Children’s Service Society

Minimum Qualifications

Must be a minimum of 16 years old
Must read and write in English
Must pass a background check from the Bureau of Child Care Licensing.
Must pass a basic physical
Must pass a TB Screening
Must be able to lift, bend and sit on level with children.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Qualified applicants must be ready to have fun, get hugs, and love children while being patience and calm. Applicants will need to be understand the importance of early childhood learning. They must be willing and capable of learning new skills.

Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of diverse people, ability, culture, ethnic background, to maintain good working relationships across the College. Ability to work with all groups in a diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic background of community college students, faculty and staff, including those with disabilities and special needs.

Special Instructions

This is a semester by semester basis position. Hours are determined by the demand of child to teacher ratios. We can work around student schedules on a limited basis.

Work Study is awarded to SLCC student through the Federal College Work-Study program, which requires establishing financial need through the FAFSA application from the Financial Aid Office. If you do not have work-study awarded to you, you will not be eligible for work under work-study positions.

Salt Lake Community College may complete a criminal background check on the finalist.
