Job Summary

The Lifetime Activities Center (LAC) Recreation Desk Attendant is accountable to enforce the Standard Operating Procedures outlined in the manual.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties

Knowledge of Fitness Center Health and Safety.
Perform routine maintenance on equipment.
Clean and maintain all exercise equipment on a daily basis.
Excellent communication skills and able to deal with general public, facility, staff & students.
Must have a knowledge of membership sales and retention strategies.
Good telephone manner and ability to record and process messages.
Be able to handle simple cash transactions while balancing a cash register.

Preferred Qualifications

-Currently enrolled as a SLCC student (preferred).
-One to two years athletic background (preferred).
-CPR and First-Aid Certified (preferred).

Minimum Qualifications

-Must be approved for Federal Work-Study
-High School Diploma or GED.
-Eighteen years of age or older.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

-Communication skills (oral and written).
-Customer service oriented.
-Problem solving.
-Prior cash-handling experience.
-Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
-Complete college mandatory staff training.
-Complete first-aid and CPR training.
-Work flexible schedule.
-Report to work on time.
-Civility and urbanity are essential attributes of the incumbent.

Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of diverse people, ability, culture, ethnic background, to maintain good working relationships across the College. Ability to work with all groups in a diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic background of community college students, faculty and staff, including those with disabilities and special needs.
