Job Summary

Provide and maintain a professional working atmosphere within the Health & Lifetime Activities Office at the Taylorsville Redwood Campus, while supporting and assisting the department Administrative Assistant and faculty.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties

Assist in operations of the Health & Lifetime Activities Office and managing office needs for the department Administrative Assistant, Associate Dean and faculty.
Respond courteously and promptly to phone and walk-in inquiries and guests, provide front-desk customer service, and perform clerical functions. Assist guests, staff, faculty and students with information and direction.
Do a regular check of responsible areas to ensure that equipment is properly arranged/maintained and unneeded equipment is properly stored; and office supplies and materials are ordered and stored. See that the area is also kept clean and neat. Maintain professional atmosphere in office and help keep it clean. Work with facilities, custodial, and department staff to help maintain work atmosphere.

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of standard office practices and procedures. Proper business English, including spelling, punctuation and grammar for reading, writing, and speaking skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word and Excel. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Minimum Qualifications

-High School Diploma.
-SLCC student in good academic standing, currently enrolled, and work-study eligible.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

-Excellent customer relations and telephone skills.
-Professional verbal and written communication skills.
-Knowledge of general office procedures and methods.
-Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office
-Ability to set priorities, organize tasks and take initiative within established parameters.
-Ability to operate most office equipment.
-Maintain professional and positive attitude, ability to grow, adapt, and take direction and work independently as necessary.

Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of diverse people, ability, culture, ethnic background, to maintain good working relationships across the College. Ability to work with all groups in a diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic background of community college students, faculty and staff, including those with disabilities and special needs.

Non-Essential Responsibilities and Duties

Up to 20 hours per week work shift. Available shifts are 8:00 AM-12:00 PM and 12:00-4:00 PM.
