Job Summary

Such faculty members actively serve our students in successfully obtaining the skills and knowledge needed to be successful in their careers.

1. This is a non-tenure track faculty position.
2. This job has a one course teaching load for the SLCC Mathematics Department. The mathematics course must be one of the courses offered through Concurrent Enrollment. Additional courses will be assigned through Concurrent Enrollment.
3.This person will be the instructor of record for all under qualified concurrent enrollment teachers.
4. This person will be required to attend math department meetings.
5.This person will write and grade all proctored exams for all under qualified CE teachers.
6. This person will mentor and assess all under qualified CE teachers.
7. This person will adhere to all departmental and college policies, procedures, and standards and ensure the CE instructors in their purview do the same.
8. This person is required to give the final determination of grades for all CE courses with under qualified instructors.
9. This person will develop a mentoring program for CE instructors.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties

Teach up to two courses for SLCC per semester that is taught through CE. (Math 1010, 1030, 1040, 1050 or 1060)

Monitor exams and grading of all CE Instructors assigned.

Develop mentoring program for all CE teachers

Attend Math and CE department meetings

Preferred Qualifications

Two years successful teaching experience as an adjunct at SLCC or two years teaching experience as a CE teacher.

Minimum Qualifications

1. M.S. or M.A. in Mathematics /Math Education
2. 18 semester credit hours of fourth year undergraduate coursework in mathematics or above. (USHE course level 5000)
3. Two years successful teaching experience at an institute of higher education or high school mathematics.
4. Demonstration of teaching excellence (by previous evaluations or teaching demonstration)

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

1.Computer skills, including knowledge of email, spreadsheets, LMS systems (Canvas preferred), and math related software (Maple, Mathematica, SAGE open source).
2, Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
3. Working knowledge of math specific pedagogy.
4. Working knowledge of high school math pedagogy.

5. Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of diverse people, culture, ethnic background, and abilities, to maintain good working relationships across the College. The ability to work with all groups in a diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic background of community college students, faculty and staff, including those with disabilities.
