Job Summary

Mentor SLCC Fitness Technician Interns as they shadow the training session.
Design safe and effective 30 minute to 1 hour personal training programs for clients, adapting the training program to each person’s specific needs and abilities.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties

Mentor SLCC Fitness Technician Interns as they shadow the training session.
Design safe and effective 30 minute to 1 hour personal training programs for clients, adapting the training program to each person’s specific needs and abilities.
Provide guidance in proper exercise technique and variations of exercises to meet goals.
Assist clients in establishing effective fitness and wellness goals and develop the most effective training plan to achieve those goals.
Offer accurate and current information and advice on fitness.
Maintain a safe and clean exercise environment within the LAC and Lab.
Maintain all required certifications.
Adjust schedule as needed to accommodate the needs of clients; this job does require some afternoons, evenings and weekends.
Promote Personal Training through personal example and member interaction.
Enforce all rules and regulations of the LAC.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties Continued
Preferred Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications

Personal training certified with ACSM.
Associate’s degree (AS or AAS) or higher in related field.
CPR, AED, and First Aid certifications.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Thorough understanding of all exercise equipment and proper operations.
Knowledge of injury prevention and rehabilitation.
Great communication skills and the ability to teach and instruct.
Work independently with minimal supervision.
Ability to work with people from beginner to advanced fitness experience.
Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds.
Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of diverse people, ability, culture, ethnic background, to maintain good working relationships across the College. Ability to work with all groups in a diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic background of community college students, faculty and staff, including those with disabilities and special needs.
