Job Summary

Under general supervision will perform receptionist duties for the front desk; answer phones, take messages, assist patients and students with paperwork and digital records, confirm and schedule appointments, direct calls from incoming clinic lines and take messages, update, file and scan patient and clinic records, resolve when appropriate patient or student related problems, assisting hygiene students and staff in daily clinic needs.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties

This job will offer students the opportunity to demonstrate and/or acquire the six OCSE competencies: Knowledge acquisition through learning our phone and computer systems and determining the most efficient ways to direct patients both in and outside the clinic; Problem solving through dealing with high and often unexpected patient flow and identifying possible issues; Communication by learning and demonstrating oral, written and listening skills in assisting students and patients in understanding one another and the services provided in the clinic; Collaboration through working with the dental hygiene department, outside staff and students in patient care and quality student education; Attendance and punctuality will be monitored and is of high importance in a clinic with set appointment times, employee will be given feedback as needed; Professional and attention to details.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties Continued

Requesting two work study individuals who can work on alternate days and hours, by providing adequate coverage to the department, while working around their demanding college schedules.
Monday-Friday
Times: Between 7:30 am to 4:30 pm
(Individual schedules will be set with clinic manager).

Preferred Qualifications

Bilingual English/Spanish

Minimum Qualifications

Must be Work-Study approved.
Knowledge of Microsoft Word; typing 25 wpm; able to learn database software; works well with a diverse population; some experience with customer service.
Basic office procedures; good written and oral communication skills.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of diverse people, ability, culture, ethnic background, to maintain good working relationships across the College. Ability to work with all groups in a diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic background of community college students, faculty and staff, including those with disabilities and special needs.
