Job Summary

Assist in operations of the SCC Student Life and Leadership Office, including supporting student leader’s needs, as well as academic and conferencing customers, and managing office needs. Promote Student Life and Leadership with students, faculty and staff. Assist the Administrative Assistant in helping the staff, student leaders, and boards in implementing scheduled programs and events.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties

Assist in operations of the Student Life and Leadership Office, including supporting student leader’s needs and academic and conferencing customers, and addressing office needs. Promote Student Life and Leadership with students, faculty and staff. Assist in implementing scheduled programs as requested. Respond courteously and promptly to phone and walk-in inquiries and provide front-desk customer service, perform clerical functions. Assist guests, staff, faculty and students with information and direction. Communicate with other offices and personnel on campus to ensure proper arrangements for scheduled activities and events. Do a regular checks of area to ensure that office space is maintained and unneeded equipment is properly stored; review and maintain office supplies and materials making sure they are stocked and stored. See that the area is also kept clean and neat. Maintain professional atmosphere in office and help keep it looking professional. Work with Administrative Assistant and other support staff to help maintain professional work atmosphere.
Assist with coverage, projects or other needs of Student Life and Leadership. Assist with office forms, keeping copies on hand, updating information and explaining how to complete. Close or open office as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

Able to lift and carry 40 lbs.
Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, e.g. Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator.

Minimum Qualifications

Education and Experience:
1. Graduation from high school or equivalent
2. Experience working with front-line customers

Knowledge and Skills:
Ability to work with diverse populations.
Excellent customer relations and telephone skills.
Knowledge of general office procedures and methods.
Good word processing skills.
Ability to set priorities, organize tasks and take initiative within established parameters.
Ability to operate most office equipment

Non-Essential Responsibilities and Duties
Special Instructions

Work up to 20 hours per week at the Taylorsville Campus. Work-study is awarded to SLCC students through the Federal College Work-Study program, which requires establishing financial need through the FAFSA application from the Financial Aid Office. If you do not have work-study awarded to you, you will not be eligible for work under work-study positions.

Salt Lake Community College may complete a criminal background check on the finalist.
