Job Summary

Under general supervision, provide secretarial support to the English Department by performing routine clerical functions, acting as receptionist, answering phones, fielding student inquiries/issues, promoting department programs, assisting faculty in the program. Provide assistance with department website/newsletter.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties

Perform routine clerical functions which include answering phones, filing, paperwork processing, performing receptionist duties, receiving and distributing mail, keeping schedules and calendars, and providing assistance to students and faculty working with the program. Create files and keep files organized.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties Continued

Provide office assistance requiring routine clerical functions which includes being proficient in Word, Excel and other office programs. Maintain files which include sensitive confidential information, entering data.
Must be able to multi-task, maintain composure and possess friendly and professional demeanor.

Preferred Qualifications

1. Familiar with Salt Lake Community College policy and procedures, including adjunct Teaching Agreements, curriculum procedures, and Banner.
2. Experience working with adjunct instructors. Good people skills.
3. Prior experience as an administrative assistant in an educational setting.
4. Accept projects with either verbal or written directions.

Minimum Qualifications

Education and Experience:
-High School Graduate
-One year of related work experience.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Excel, Word, and other office programs.

Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of diverse people, ability, culture, ethnic background, to maintain good working relationships across the College. Ability to work with all groups in a diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic background of community college students, faculty and staff, including those with disabilities and special needs.
