Job Summary

Responsible for the daily operation of the surplus areas, to including but not limited to: Pick up all surplus items from all campus locations, maintain detail record keeping and inventory control. Assist with web based sales, and surplus sales floor.
Warehouse organization and completing work orders assigned to surplus and Lost and Found areas.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties

Responsible for the daily operation of the surplus area to include but not limited to: Pick up all surplus items from all campus locations, maintain detail record keeping and inventory control. Assist with web based sales, and surplus sales floor stocking shelves act as a cashier. Warehouse organization and completing work order assigned to surplus and Lost and Found areas. Picking up surplus items from SLCC Departments that can include furniture, computers, equipment, vehicles and office items. Keep a warehouse clean and organized. Monitor and update surplus data base and send reports to property control and State of Utah Surplus. Help in other Facilities areas, Central Receiving & Distribution, Fleet Services, Utilities and other Facilities crafts as needed.
This can include make deliveries of various items: from campus to campus, to warehouses, and commercial vendors.
Install furniture for offices, classrooms, labs, foyers, auditoriums, and conference rooms.
Setup and teardown furniture, stages, equipment for special events, functions and athletic games.
Clean and maintain facilities shops, warehouses, campus buildings and snow removal.
Act as a courier to pick up and perform delivery of items as well as carrying passengers when assigned by department Supervisor or lead.
Use computer software to track items coming in and out of the warehouse. Complete annual auditing of the surplus database and physical inventory.
And other duties as assigned and as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

High School Degree or equivalent.
Commercial Driver license: Class A or B with Air Breaks and Passenger endorsements with class B buses.
Warehouse or retail sales experience

Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent
Able to learn warehousing, retail and on-line auctions sales.
Must have a valid UT Driver License.
Must have or be able to obtain forklift certification within three (3) months of start date.
Must have or be able to complete the following required department training within one (1) year of start date:
1) Operate moving trucks and moving equipment
2) Man lifts
2) Snow plows
3) Hazardous Waste
4) Blood / Pathogen
5) Safety requirement
6) OSHA

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Read, write, and communicate in English.
Demonstrate effective team work with all Staff, Faculty and Students.
Must be able to lift 75 pounds or more on a regular consistent basis.
Communicate effectively with the Surplus Supervisor or lead to follow written and verbal instructions.
Computer skills, stay current on software upgrades to keep track of work order hours and required trainings.
Complete all assigned work orders effectively and timely before or by assigned due date.
Attention to details while performing work order jobs.
Enter daily time into the Sprocket work order system.
Ability to drive multiple kinds of moving trucks and operate various equipment.
Make deliveries of various items: from campus to campus, to warehouses, and commercial vendors.
Pick up and move furniture for offices, classrooms, labs, foyers, auditoriums, and conference rooms.
Irregular work hours may be requested to accommodate special events for athletics, student services, staff, etc.
Setup and tear down furniture, stages, equipment for special events, functions and athletic games.
Ability to remove snow using; snow plows, shovels, and blowers, to clear areas, as directed.
Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of diverse people, ability, culture, ethnic background, to maintain good working relationships across the College. Ability to work with all groups in a diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic background of community college students, faculty and staff, including those with disabilities and special needs.
