Job Summary

Working as a member of the Admissions Outreach Team, serving future students currently in low-income, first-generation or underserved populations. Working in alternative highs and adult education schools and with community partners.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties

This specialist will assist with and track prospective students in a database through the admissions and financial aid process: admission, placement testing, FAFSA, residency and transition these students into First Year Experience.
The Specialist will assist the Outreach & Access Advisor 2 with tabling events, preparing for events, assisting with presentations and presenting tours for targeted schools and communities. The Specialist will become familiar with and promote college resources available to prospective students and their parents.

Ability to speak another language is preferred:
Spanish, Arabic, Swahili

Minimum Qualifications

a. Must communicate clearly in English both in writing and orally.
b. Must be a work study student.
c. Ability to type accurately at least 30 wpm and use basic Microsoft computer programs.
d. Be able to adapt to change
e. Work some evening and weekend events

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Knowledge of:
a. Diverse populations and ability to work well with diverse people.
b. SLCC college resources & admissions procedures (application, financial aid, catalog, schedule,)
c. Computer database and software programs such as student information systems, Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Access Database, Publisher and presentation media equipment including laptops and LCD projectors
Ability to:
d. Track and enter student information accurately into a database
e. Communicate well in writing and orally
f. Learn the requirements of SLCC departments, majors, and schools
g. Communicate effectively in maintaining good working relationships with other team members and with other College staff.
h. Facilitate presentations and College tours.
i. Drive to locations and have a valid Utah Driver’s License.
j. Multi-task and learn all phases of the job requirements.
Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of diverse people, ability, culture, ethnic background, to maintain good working relationships across the College. Ability to work with all groups in a diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic background of community college students, faculty and staff, including those with disabilities and special needs.
