Job Summary

Assess, diagnose and treat students, faculty and staff while providing competent care in a multi-campus college health care setting by eliciting histories, performing physical assessment, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, formulating plans, prescribing medication or other forms of treatments, and referring when appropriate.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties

Assess, diagnose and treat students, and when space available, faculty and staff, by eliciting histories, performing physical assessment, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, formulating plans, prescribing medication or other forms of treatments, and referring when appropriate.

Practice with a focus on health promotion, wellness and disease prevention by taking time with patients to address underlying issues, encouraging patients to participate in and make choices about their treatment plan, emphasizing education and providing patients with web or print educational materials while respecting individual and cultural diversity.

Mindful participation and coordination of duties and tasks with other Center for Health & Counseling staff including medical assistants, counselors, health educators, massage therapists and clerical staff to ensure low-cost, accessible, holistic health/wellness care.

Advocate and maintain quality health care by individually meeting or exceeding OSHA, CLIA, HIPAA, GRAMA, FERPA and occupational health standards as well as participate in other quality improvement programs.

Preferred Qualifications

College health related work experience.

Minimum Qualifications

Current license as advanced practice registered nurse (APRN). Prescriptive privilege in the State of Utah.

Master’s degree in nursing from an accredited college of nursing.

National board-certification as a family or adult nurse practitioner.

Minimum of one year full-time (or equivalent) ambulatory care experience.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Practice with a focus on health promotion, wellness and disease prevention.
Encourage patients to participate in and make choices about their treatment plan, emphasizing education.

Respect for individual and cultural diversity.

Mindful participation and coordination of duties and tasks with other Center for Health & Counseling staff including medical assistants, counselors, health educators, massage therapists and clerical staff to ensure low-cost, accessible, holistic health/wellness care.

Electronic charting and electronic media literacy.

Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of diverse people, abilities, cultures and ethnic backgrounds to maintain good working relationships across the College. Ability to work with all groups in a diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic background of community college students, faculty and staff, including those with disabilities.

Experience diagnosing and treating a broad range of illness and disease in adults 18 to over 80 years of age.

Experienced and comfortable working independently or in an independent setting.
