Job Summary

Under minimal supervision, performs complex assignments and fulfills broad responsibilities in support of the Vice President for Student Affairs. Provides customer service and answers general inquiries about the College to students, employees, and others. Handles work of a highly confidential and sensitive nature.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties

Perform general office duties such as compile, produce, and edit quality finished memorandum, presentations, correspondence, minutes, and reports. Perform essential customer service duties to include: screening telephone calls and visitors, explaining Student Code of Conduct and departmental policies and procedures, answering questions, and making appropriate referrals. Schedule meetings and assist with the Vice President’s calendar. Serve as back up to the Administrative Assistant in the Vice President’s Office.

Conduct various projects, research and assignments for the Vice President for Student Affairs. Assist Student Affairs Directors with various projects including annual goal and assessment plans, program review, Student Fee Board presentations and budget and contract processing. Serve as the liaison between Student Affairs employees and Campus Labs. Maintain user access list with Campus Labs.

Organize and coordinate the annual Student Fee Board process including scheduling the meetings and departmental presentations, making packets for Fee Board members, compiling the PowerPoint presentations and other presentation materials, draft the Fee Board Decisions for Cabinet and the Board of Trustees and compile and send Student Fee notification letters to the departments. Processes fiscal and budgetary documents related to the Student Services Servicing budget, including departmental requisitions, requests for checks, orders and inventories. Assists with budget reconciliation processes as required.

Contribute content, update and maintain the Vice President for Student Affairs website. Work with social media applications to share VP events, news, etc.

Supervise student employees in the Vice President for Student Affairs Office. Coordinate the marketing, recruitment and selection of students to serve on various college-wide committees as Students at Large.

Preferred Qualifications

a) Fluency in a second language, Spanish preferred.
b) Work experience in an educational setting
c) Experience with Banner and SLCC enrollment procedures

Minimum Qualifications

One year of higher education (minimum of 30 credits). Two years of direct experience.

Substitutions for education/experience on a 1:1 basis.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Knowledge of:
a) Banner, CANVAS, DegreeWorks, and other technological platforms
b) Computers and software, including Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Publisher, and Windows 10.
c) College resources and enrollment procedures, including applying for financial aid and course registration procedures
a) Comfort with various forms of technology and understands and uses appropriate methods, tools, and applications.
b) Problem solving skills, including research, creativity, and innovation
c) Judgment and decision-making skills
d) Excellent customer services skills required
e) Type 50 wpm.
