Job Summary

Facilitate the efficient consultation, organization, timely physical setup, and post event wrap-up of all events; while assisting in maintaining a safe environment in the Student Center.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties

1.Open the Student Center, and event spaces for daily events. Secure the building by locking internal doors when not in use. Check all spaces before and after events ensuring that setup meets prescribed expectations and that equipment & rooms are secured after events.
2.Set up audio/visual equipment and other amenities as outlined in the Schedule of Events, ensuring that all Conferencing services are in place. Troubleshoot and resolve client equipment and set up compatibility issues. Provide timely resolution of client or event conflicts. Perform timely event setups, including furnishings, audio/visual and computer equipment.
3.Provide direct Customer Service through regular interaction with on/off campus clients, staff, faculty and students in a multiple event environment. Anticipate client needs by being aware of potential conflicts or last minute setup or equipment needs; facilitating client needs throughout their event.
4.Ensure client compliance with SLCC Policies and Procedures and Federal, State and Local law and fire codes.
5.Facilitate sales by assisting the Scheduling Office in conducting tours of the conferencing facilities when needed. Assist clients by providing information and organizational consulting on setup, equipment, displays, flow of traffic and signage for diverse types of events. Assist clients, students, faculty, and staff with information and directions.
6.Conduct a regular maintenance inspection of all conference, space to ensure appropriate maintenance and upkeep, and the return of equipment to the appropriate storage. Inspect Student Center lighting for repair and service – change bulbs as needed. Make repairs as needed on furniture and other fixtures. Operate and troubleshoot other systems associated with the building including patios, flag poles, fountains, furniture and equipment.
7.Be able and willing to cover other shifts when there are vacation requests or illness.
8.Help maintain parking equipment and schedule repair service from Traffic Solutions & Design Co. Become trained in the Parking Booth operation and be able to help out as needed.
9.Prioritize all daily activities, communicate any event changes or modifications to supervisor and/or co-workers, and check the weekly events schedule regularly for updates and additions.
10.Other duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications

Associcates Degree and one (1) year of employment in event setup, facilitation, customer service or equivalent. Building maintenance experience helpfull.

Minimum Qualifications

High School diploma or equivalent,
One (1) year of part time employment in event setup, facilitation, customer service or equivalent,
Must have the ability to read and write basic english

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Strong customer service orientation and communications skills; knowledge of general office procedures; ability to handle sensitive client information with discretion while maintaining confidentiality, ability to handle conflict resolution with calm deliberation. Ability to set priorities and organize tasks; ability to operate office and A/V equipment; ability to lift and move 50 lbs consistently and repetitively; ability to maintain professional, positive attitude; ability to grow, adapt, take direction and work independently when necessary; interpersonal skills including, problem solving, and decision making skills; reliable and punctual.
