Job Summary

Teach college level math courses to career/technical and college transfer students as assigned, whether on Redwood campus or at other campus locations.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties

1. Ability to implement successful pedagogical strategies for the teaching and learning of mathematics.
2. Follows the course curriculum outline, prepares and delivers lectures and other classroom activities.
3. Keeps accurate classroom records.
4. Coordinates Student ADA accommodation requests following college policy and procedures.
5. Answer student questions and provide necessary feedback on student progress.
6. Supports department assessment initiatives.
7. Meets College and department deadlines and evaluates student work in a timely manner including submitting final grades on time.
8. Completes all required trainings.
9. Demonstrate and supports professional commitment to division, school, and college mission and values.
10. Follows SLCC policies and procedures.

Preferred Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications

The Mathematics Department requires the following from an accredited college or university:

Masters’ degree in mathematics, or
Masters’ degree in a closely related area with 18 graduate semester hours in mathematics.

2. A knowledge of and ability to design and implement successful pedagogical strategies for working with developmental and other at-risk students as well as transfer students.
3. Have good organizational skills.
4. Fairness and flexibility in understanding and working with a diverse student population.
5. Ability to communicate effectively in teaching/learning situations both orally and in writing.
6. Commitment to and ability to implement instructional strategies that foster student retention and student success.
7. Familiarity with computer technology and on-line resources.
8. Ability/potential to use computerized/electronic classrooms.
9. A commitment to using assessment and program effectiveness methodologies.

Special Instructions

As directed by SLCC Policy, Adjunct positions are semester by semester contract with no guarantee of continued employment.
