Job Summary

The marketing specialist position will assist Business Development Resources’ Marketing Manager with social media marketing and outreach needs, specifically all online website updates, google ad words, Facebook posts, Twitter, and other relevant social media platforms . Candidate will be primarily responsible for developing on-line social media content. The marketing specialist will also manage the department event and external calendars.

The Marketing specialist will assist with outreach and recruitment for BDR departments’, programs, classes, workshops and events. They will assist with coordinating, setting up and attending events to promote and raise awareness around BDR activities.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties

The Marketing Specialist will collaborate with the department managers on calendars and events in order to promote upcoming activities. They will also conduct email campaigns and maintain databases via on-line tools such as Constant Contact, Mail Chimp and Outlook. The Marketing Specialist may also review, proof, edit and write copy for print and web, under the direction Marketing Manager, as well as coordinate social media and outreach needs with other BDR staff.

The marketing specialist will help develop appropriate and effective business communications, both internally with BDR staff and faculty, and externally with vendors and business partners

Preferred Qualifications

Must be highly computer literate, including a good understanding of trends in online media such as social media, blogging/microblogging, SEO, etc. Knowledge of CRM tools, Microsoft Office Suite and some database management. Good written and oral communication skills, and customer service skills required. Understanding of basic marketing principles is preferred. Experience with web design and/or programming preferred, but not required.

Minimum Qualifications

At least two years college-level training or education in social media marketing and graphic design, particularly Adobe Photoshop and InDesign. Professional experience may be considered in exchange for college education, with a comprehensive portfolio to demonstrate qualifications. A background in marketing or advertising is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of diverse people, ability, culture, ethnic background, to maintain good working relationships across the College. Ability to work with all groups in a diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic background of community college students, faculty and staff, including those with disabilities and special needs.
