Job Summary

Instructional delivery, management of learning environment and assessment of student learning for the Biology Course(s) or Biology Lab(s) assigned by the Department Chair or the Lab Coordinator

Essential Responsibilities and Duties

-Using pre-established curricula, teach courses or labs.
-Create and adhere to a departmentally approved syllabus.
-Assess student learning as prescribed by the department.
-Follow all SLCC policies and procedures.
-Adjunct Instructor will assign student grades for the course.
-Lab Instructors will report student performance to the lab
coordinator.
-Other duties as assigned by Department Chair or Lab
Coordinator

Preferred Qualifications

Prior experience teaching college-level Biology Courses and/or college-level Biology Labs

Minimum Qualifications

Adjunct Instructor: MS in Biology or a closely related field with an emphasis in the area of Biology related to the course being taught

Lab Instructor: BS in Biology or a closely related field with an emphasis in the area of Biology related to the lab being taught

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Excellent content knowledge and teaching ability in Biology

Non-Essential Responsibilities and Duties

Excellent written and oral communication skills

Excellent computer and software skills (MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Outlook, etc.)

Demonstrated skills and record of success in establishing good working relationships with students, staff, & faculty

Must be dependable
