Job Summary

Assist Locksmith(s) with installation and maintaining all locking systems used by SLCC to secure college facilities at all SLCC locations. This will include keyed and electronic locking systems.
Assist with the preventative maintenance program for all locking systems. Respond to emergency access needs.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties

Assist Locksmith(s) with day to day problem resolution, new and existing hardware installation and repairs.
Must be able to lift 50 lbs., climb stairs and ladders, walk entire buildings, and be in confined spaces.
Excellent customer service skills required.
Able to work with a diverse group of individuals.
Must be able to work with others and independently.
Must be detailed oriented.
Experience with using hand tools both power and manual.
Ability to work with small parts.
Work on low voltage electricity.
Detail oriented and mechanically minded.
Must be able to read and understand directions.
Grammar, computer and Email skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with low voltage electricity.
Experience with door hardware and electronic access control systems.

Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma and (0-2) years direct, paid, work experience.
Must have a valid Utah drivers license.
Must be able to pass a FBI background check.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Excellent public relations and communication skills with an ability to work with varying individuals and situations.
Must have the ability to work independently, solve problems as they arise and meet prescribed deadlines.
Be able to communicate effectively with staff and customers, both verbally, electronically, and in writing. Must be able to read and understand directions.
Ability to use a computer for work related tasks.
Must be able to set appropriate priorities and adapt to changing needs that would require a re-evaluation of work priorities. Have the ability to understand complex, multi-step written and oral instructions. Familiar the use of hand tools, low voltage electricity, and trade work.
Work effectively as part of a team.
Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of diverse people, ability, culture, ethnic background, to maintain good working relationships across the College.
Ability to work with all groups in a diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic background of community college students, faculty and staff, including those with disabilities and special needs.
