Job Summary

The Student Writing Center Receptionist assists students in making writing advising appointments in-person, on-line, and on the phone. The receptionist will acquaint students with Student Writing Center procedures and policies, facilitates students meeting with writing advisors, and supports the overall smooth operation of the Student Writing Center.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties

The receptionist is responsible for:

*Helping students to make appointments
*Greeting students as they enter the Student Writing Center
*Assisting students to locate writing advisors
*Answering the phone and taking messages for Student Writing Center staff

Minimum Qualifications

Must have completed high school or similar. Must have good people skills.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Clear communication skills and ability to handle stressful situations. Must be able to multi-task.

Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of diverse people, ability, culture, ethnic background, to maintain good working relationships across the College. Ability to work with all groups in a diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic background of community college students, faculty and staff, including those with disabilities and special needs.
