Job Summary

Cleans and maintains Salt Lake Community College facilities to ensure they are acceptable and orderly for all classes, meetings, and events.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties

Responsible for cleaning building; entryways, hallways, classrooms, restrooms, locker rooms, offices, and indoor/outdoor common areas.
Cleaning floors includes vacuuming carpet, and moping hard floor surfaces.
Stripping and waxing hard floor surfaces.
Carpet Cleaning
Disinfect the restrooms inside & outside urinals/toilets, counter tops, sinks, mirrors, lockers, and showers.
Replenish restroom cart supplies that were used during the shift from the designated custodial closet.
Emptying and removing trash from garbage cans inside and outside of the buildings and disposing it into the outside dumpsters.
Dust and clean the windows, blinds, vents, furniture, all fixtures, and glass.
Clean in areas above the head and underneath furniture/fixtures.
Ensure that all lights are turned off and doors are secured after completing cleaning duties.
Responsible for completing assigned duties with or without directions.
Follow and learn Team Cleaning process for daily duties.
Assist in setting up furniture and equipment for special events as scheduled by the college.
Responsible for snow removal and application of ice melt during the winter season.
Wipe down clean the custodial equipment used during and after the shift.
Report any, problems, damage or building repairs needed to management immediately.
Complete and close out work orders on the computer using the Sprocket system, enter time worked.

Preferred Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent.
6 months’ work experience.

Minimum Qualifications

18 years or older.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
High attention to detail and follow through.
Receive and follow verbal/written instructions and communicate effectively.
Demonstrate effective team work with all staff.
Ability to follow job cards completely and efficiently.
Ability to operate custodial equipment such as vacuums, buffers, scrubbers, upholsters.
Computer and data entry skills.
Knowledge of SDS (Safety Data Sheets), cleaning products and their methods of use.
Ability to lift heavy items individually or as a team.
Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of diverse people, ability, culture, ethnic background, to maintain good working relationships across the College.
Ability to work with all groups in a diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic background of community college students, faculty and staff, including those with disabilities and special needs.

Non-Essential Responsibilities and Duties

Assist and Support the Utility Department to set-up and tear-down events and move furniture.
