Job Summary

Maintain the Central Receiving Objectives which include picking up items from all college locations and transport them to all SLCC Department locations as well as from our SLCC Redwood Campus Central Receiving.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties

Receive and Transport goods and supplies purchased by the College, including of all materials acquired by purchase orders and P-card orders, materials delivered to the College by UPS, Fed-Ex and other common carriers, materials requiring delivery from one College campus to another College Campus and special handling of confidential documents. Materials include fragile, high dollar items that are awkward to transport because of weight and size or Hazards material this can include chemicals, biological and sharp items that my have chemical or biological agents. Safeguard all resources against theft, loss or destruction. Plan travel routes effectively to account for road conditions, timeliness of delivery and pick-up points in the most efficient use of time and energy. Able to operate a variety of delivery vehicles, fork lifts of different types and sizes, pallet jacks, and motorized and manual delivery devices in a highly safe manner to avoid injury to self and others as well as safeguarding materials being received, shipped, transported, and delivered. Use of computerized tracking hardware and software for each item being received, shipped, inventoried, transported, and delivered. Receive and account for all items that arrive under purchase orders, this includes accounting of all items received, documentations of all items received under a purchase order number and record the receiving of each line item in Banner.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties Continued

Pick up, packages or other goods for transport to other departments, return of shipments and organize for storage and or disposal, all kinds of surplus property as well as Purchasing Department, Surplus, Motor Pool and to all other departments that request assistance of the courier as it relates to handling of all college property. Position will Request physically demanding work in varying and harsh environments. This could also require you to ware personal protection equipment (PPE).

Preferred Qualifications

High School Degree or GED
Class B CDL with passenger and Air Brake Endorsements.

Valid Utah Drivers License

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Provide assistance to the Receiving Technician, Delivery Aids, Mail Clerks and other Facilities Services personnel through ongoing assignments to assist in those areas, including receiving incoming shipments, processing work orders, purchase orders, metering mail and other duties as assigned.
Act as College Courier with the USPS for all SLCC business centers including required paperwork, processing and entry of classifications of mail and Packages daily. Transport other college mail to and from USPS multiple times daily.
Able to pass a back ground check to receive security clearances to secured locations.
Assist with Motor Pool with transportation of all college vehicles on and off campus location and from campus to campus location.
Maintain accurate information of all items received, shipped, transported, and delivered.
Maintain confidentiality of department information, items received, transported, delivered and interactions of other departments and personnel issues.
Maintain delivery vehicles and equipment in proper operating condition, including fuel, lubrications, tune-ups, tires, etc… and maintain necessary logs and service information of delivery vehicles and equipment.
Pick up recycle paper goods and deliver to recycle drop off locations.
Pick up confidential material for final destruction or long term storage.
Assist in other areas in Surplus, Motor Pool, Recycling, Utilities, and other areas that the department manager manages.
Assist with all departmental paper work in hard copy and electronic formats
Answer phones, give directions, shelves goods, errands for departments, and other work or duties as assigned.
Pick up Bio waste from other campuses and deliver to a central secured location
Valid Utah Drivers License
Able to lift 75 lbs.
Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of diverse people, ability, culture, ethnic background, to maintain good working relationships across the College. Ability to work with all groups in a diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic background of community college students, faculty and staff, including those with disabilities and special needs.

Non-Essential Responsibilities and Duties
Special Instructions

Ability to operate a power industrial truck (forklifts) and able to obtain a certification provided by SLCC.
SLCC will complete background check on selected finalist.
