Job Summary

Under the direction of Key Office Manager, and Senior Locksmith: Install and maintain all locking systems used by SLCC to secure college facilities at all SLCC locations. This will include keyed and electronic locking systems. Maintain a preventative maintenance program for all locking systems. Obtain and maintain Millennium and ASSA and similar certifications. Complete special projects as assigned including upgrades to old systems and the installation of new systems.

Millennium and ASSA certifications or similar certifications.

Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma
1-4 years direct, paid, full-time work experience in keying cylinders and installing access control systems.
Valid Utah Drivers License

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Must have the ability to work independently, solve problems as they arise and meet prescribed deadlines. Be able to communicate effectively with staff and customers, both verbally and in writing. Must be able to set appropriate priorities and adapt to changing needs that would require a re-evaluation of work priorities. Have the ability to understand complex, multi-step written and oral instructions. Familiar with all technical tasks and operation of equipment and use of tools associated with the locksmith trade. Ability to read and interpret construction documents as they relate to access control hardware and installation. Strong knowledge and application of mechanical and electronic access systems which includes installation, troubleshooting, repair and maintenance. Must be able to perform math calculations using fractions, percents and ratios. Work effectively as part of a team. Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of diverse people, ability, culture, ethnic background, to maintain good working relationships across the College. Ability to work with all groups in a diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic background of community college students, faculty and staff, including those with disabilities.
