Job Summary

To serve as support for Faculty/Staff/Students at various Salt Lake Community College locations as needed. Provide accurate and consistent information regarding on-site classes, meetings, questions, concerns, etc.

Participate in the daily operation of the center, including but not limited to, telephone and email coverage, set-up of classroom technology, distribute supplies, post cancellation notices and any other services as needed to support the services at the site.

Be aware of applicable college policies and procedures.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties

Provide telephone coverage, including but not limited to disseminating general information about the College and taking messages from and for faculty. Be aware of institutional policies and procedures, including approved safety and security procedures.

Provide site support to faculty members. Know when to direct faculty to their departments: for example, to request keys and copy codes. Train and assist faculty in the use of copy machines, in class electronic equipment and other available site services. Deliver and set up media equipment to classrooms when requested. Assist instructors by distributing mail and classroom supplies and keeping the faculty workroom organized.

Post signs as needed to direct students to classrooms. Be trained in the available SLCC services to assist prospective as well as current students in being admitted to SLCC and enrolling in SLCC courses.

Work with Academic Coordinator to change classrooms when needed. Work with Faculty to gain access to classrooms. Assist in security of facility and equipment, including opening and locking classrooms in multiple buildings and monitoring video surveillance when at the desk and where applicable.

Preferred Qualifications

One year of post high school education/training.
One year of related, paid work experience.
Additional appropriate work experience may be substituted on a one for one year basis for education.

Minimum Qualifications

Basic computer skills.

Ability to operate multi-media and audio visual classroom technology.
Ability to problem-solve situations.
Ability to accurately refer individuals to the appropriate college department and/or service.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Ability to communicate effectively with students. Outstanding customer service and interpersonal skills a must. Ability to operate a computer and general office equipment. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite. General clerical skills.
Organizational and multi-tasking skills.

Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of diverse people, ability, culture, ethnic background, to maintain good working relationships across the College. Ability to work with all groups in a diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic background of community college students, faculty and staff, including those with disabilities and special needs.

1) Library Square Center, 231 East 400 South, Salt Lake City
Position Hours: Monday-Thursday 4 pm to 9 pm
(Fall/Spring semesters: M-Th 5 pm to 10 pm)
& Fridays 11:30 am to 4:30 pm
