Job Summary

Under the general supervision of the Coordinator Facilities Services, performs receptionist, secretarial, clerical and technical duties which require knowledge of basic accounting, Banner, CEO Scheduler, MS Word and Excel.
Requires highly effective customer service and decision making skills while working with a diverse customer base of students, staff/faculty, and several offices within the Department of Public Safety.
This person is also responsible for general security including locking down the building on a daily basis and checking dorm rooms for cleanliness, maintenance problems etc.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties

Operate electronic mail (Email).
Create and maintain files and logs, enter data, and receive mail.
Assist with scheduling and room reservations.
Disseminate general information to students, employees and guests.
Be familiar with and explain department and college policies and procedures.
Become familiar with Dept. Public Safety personnel, departments, and their associated policies and procedures.
Answer questions, solve problems, and make referrals where necessary.
Compile reports.
Be the contact person for handling all emergencies during the shift.
Produce I.D. / room cards.
Ability to operate a washer and dryer (occasionally).
Weekly inspect/report unoccupied dorm rooms for cleanliness and any maintenance issues.
Ability to lift at least 25 pounds.
Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
One year of post high school education/training.
One year of related, paid, work experience.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of diverse people, ability, culture, ethnic background, to maintain good working relationships across the College. Ability to work with all groups in a diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic background of community college students, faculty, staff and various law enforcement and State divisions, including those with disabilities and special needs.
Be able to lift 25 pounds.

Non-Essential Responsibilities and Duties
Special Instructions

Part time 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., and Friday’s 7:00 am to 11:00 a.m. (up to 125 hours per calendar month) Hours and times may vary.
Monday thru Friday, major holidays and weekends off.
Salt Lake Community College may complete a criminal background check on the finalist.
