Job Summary

Work in Office of Admissions as the initial contact for all guests to Student Services. Provide assistance to new, prospective and returning students in the areas of admission, getting started at SLCC, MySLCC setup, and navigation of the College website. Provide reception duties as well as telephone assistance in the Office of Admissions. Communicate effectively through in-person and email correspondence. Evening hours until 7 p.m. will be required. Occasional weekend hours during peak admission periods may be required.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties

Perform clerical functions that relate to admissions and enrollment processes. Provide receptionist duties, answer telephone and in person inquiries. Provide admissions assistance to students, faculty and staff over the telephone, in person and email. Ability to problem solve and react quickly to student, staff and faculty questions and a busy and complex environment.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in BANNER database preferred. Expert telephone etiquette, expert customer service skills and basic computer knowledge i.e. Microsoft Office (Word, Publisher, PowerPoint) and Outlook.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma required.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Knowledge of SLCC policy and procedures for admission; registration; college catalog and schedule use and various student service departments; effective customer service skills. Knowledge and skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel).
Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of diverse people, ability, culture, ethnic background, to maintain good working relationships across the College. Ability to work with all groups in a diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic background of community college students, faculty and staff, including those with disabilities and special needs.
