Job Summary

Under the general supervision of the Student Centers Manager and Scheduling Specialist, perform routine receptionist duties. Requires highly effective customer service and decision making skills.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties

Office coverage during set daytime hours.
Perform receptionist duties, i.e., first contact with customers, welcome visitors, take telephone calls and screen messages. Disseminate general information to students,employees and others.
Be familiar with and explain department and college policies and procedures.
Answer questions, solve problems, and make referrals where necessary.
Perform clerical functions that include using office equipment to produce and compile finished memorandum, correspondence, reports, etc.
Operate electronic mail.
Create and maintain files and logs, enter data, receive and distribute mail.
Assist with room reservations, equipment checkout, etc.
Assist with visitor parking cash verification.
Maintain and safeguard records.
Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Education and Experience:
One year of post high school education/training.
One year of related, paid work experience.

Ability to:
Communicate effectively orally and in writing.
Perform a variety of secretarial duties.
Work independently to prioritize and follow projects through to completion.
Show integrity, honesty and accuracy with handling cash.
Work with and safe guard highly confidential information.
Perform clerical duties under pressure.
Public relations and interpersonal problem solving skills.
Customer Service. Office methods, techniques, practices and procedures.
Computer application (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of diverse people, ability, culture, ethnic background, to maintain good working relationships across the College. Ability to work with all groups in a diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic background of community college students, faculty and staff, including those with disabilities and special needs.
