Job Summary

Lab Aide will assist class instructor and program coordinator in maintaining a clean and organized school environment. Lab aide will assist in day-to-day operations, development, maintenance, and organization of school equipment

Essential Responsibilities and Duties

- Work as a lab assistant for the Nondestructive Testing Department. This will involve the ability to work with students learning equipment and test methods in magnetic particle, liquid penetrant, eddy current, radiography and ultrasonics
-Lab maintenance and organization.
-Building and developing training aides.
-Assisting faculty with day-to-day operations.
-Calibration and update of equipment
-Use of spreadsheets in logging in and correcting lab and quiz assignments.
-Assisting with school open house events
-Organize parts and components and verify equipment is operational for future labs.

Preferred Qualifications

-Enrolled in the Non-destructive testing program.
-Welding/Manufacturing background.
-Physically able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.

Minimum Qualifications

-Problem solving skills.
-Self motivated.
-Willingness to be productive.
-Current SLCC student that has qualified for Work Study.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

-Ability to follow directions and complete assigned tasks.
-Competent handwriting and typing skills
-Data entry of information into Word, Excel and Outlook. Copy and paste material between files and programs. Send information via email and telephone. Assist with department organization and filing.
-Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of diverse people, ability, culture, ethnic background, to maintain good working relationships across the College. Ability to work with all groups in a diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic background of community college students, faculty and staff, including those with disabilities and special needs.
