Job Summary

Salt Lake Community College (SLCC) is a premiere community college in the western United States and a national leader. As a mission-driven institution, SLCC seeks to dynamic leader to assist in developing and implementing institutional strategy. Under the direction of the Vice President for Institutional Effectiveness, this organizational leader collaboratively builds institutional capacity for evidence-based, data-informed planning and decision-making. This position supports executive cabinet and college councils and committees in the coordination of institutional strategic and core theme planning. It also oversees the college program review process and assists in evaluating the effectiveness of cross-college strategies and initiatives. This position will work with the VP of Institutional Effectiveness to assure compliance with NWCCU accreditation standards, including the drafting of the necessary reports. Supervise and support the director of the office of data science and analytics. This is an at-will position.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties

Lead institutional strategic and core theme planning including the communication, tracking and reporting of institutional-level planning, assessment, and improvement activities. Work with college councils, committees, and the office of data science & analytics to identify, analyze, and synthesize data to help plan and assess initiatives to advance strategic priorities and the college mission.

Provide high-level leadership for the office of data science and analytics (not day-to-day leadership). Establish broad goals and objectives aligning to the college’s strategic plan. Review office performance and vet information and reports for college-wide publication. Directly supervise and support the director to ensure the office has the necessary resources to meet its objectives.

Coordinate and provide leadership for the college program review process and process improvement program. Formalize the program review process with an emphasis on process improvement. Organize and deliver formal and informal training to improve analytical and process improvement skills across the college.

Communicate and facilitate implementation of accreditation processes. Coordinate collection of college-wide input for NWCCU accreditation reports, and oversee production of required reports.

Preferred Qualifications

P.h.D. in related field.

Experience in a community college planning.

Process improvement certification.

Minimum Qualifications

Master’s Degree.

Five (5) years related experience.

Two (2) years management experience in higher education.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Demonstrated knowledge of process improvement theory and application within higher education. Including the ability to map current workflows and redesign business processes for optimization and improvement.

• Effective communication skills and comfort working with different teams within the organization. Communicate effectively and persuasively with people from all areas of the college. Work well under pressure, be flexible, adaptable and establish rapport easily.

• Must be a creative and collaborative team player with the ability to interact with a diverse team and a proven history of accepting and giving constructive feedback.

• Produce professional documents and give professional and effective presentations.

• A working knowledge of institutional data and information systems.

• Experience conducting statistical and business analyses and research for organizational decision-making.

• Demonstrated writing ability and data visualization to communicate effectively. This includes the ability to write technical reports with content provided by multiple college departments

• Knowledgeable of NWCCU accreditation standards and able to explain and interpret NWCCU standards for college personnel
• Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of diverse people, ability, culture, ethnic background, to maintain good working relationships across the College. Ability to work with all groups in a diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic background of community college students, faculty and staff, including those with disabilities.
