Job Summary

The Gear Up Budget Technician will be responsible for maintaining all budget data for this federally funded grant program. The successful candidate must be familiar with general accounting principles and able to quickly learn the federal requirements as they pertain to this grant. Software programs that the candidate will use will include traditional spreadsheet programs such as Microsoft Excel along with specialized, proprietary programs including BANNER and software specific to our partner institutions in this project. The successful candidate will handle data in a manner that is both timely and accurate. This position will also facilitate approved budget expenditures such as ordering supplies or making travel arrangements.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties

Essential duties:
• Budget
o Maintain Records
o Prepare Budget Reports
o Reconciliation of Budget Expenditures according to current policy and procedures
• Travel
o Prepare Hotel/airline/ground transportation reservations
o Facilitate Conference registrations
o Collect relevant receipts for budget reconciliation after such events
• Purchasing
o Ordering
 Office supplies
 Equipment

o Budget reconciliation
• Maintain confidentiality
• Communicate effectively with college partners, especially concerning program budget information

Essential Responsibilities and Duties Continued
Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with BANNER software program
• Familiarity with federal grants, including following requirements for recordkeeping and reporting according to timelines and formats established by the program

Minimum Qualifications

• Associate Degree in a relevant field; 2 years’ related Work experience for 1 year education equivalency
• 2 years experience working with budgets

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Microsoft office suite
• Ability to learn and work with various financial/database software programs
• English communication skills, including written and verbal
• Meet deadlines
• Follow instructions
• Ability to create and maintain detailed, accurate budget files
• Work as a member of a team

Non-Essential Responsibilities and Duties

• Take minutes for staff meetings
• Assist, as needed and available, with events, including but not limited to:
o Scheduling resources such as rooms or transportation
o Greeting and directing guests on campus
o Preparing signage and other directional information for such events
o Input participant information into a database
• Relate to and communicate effectively with a variety of people from different backgrounds, both within and outside of the college
- Other Duties as Assigned
