Job Summary

The Specialist serves as the initial support contact for all learners, instructors, staff and visitors seeking information about SLCC Online and eLearning.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties

Provide learner and instructor support via email, phone, chat and in-person.
Responsible for providing accurate and consistent information.
Compose, prepare and email correspondence.
Create and maintain spreadsheets.
Reference student and other information in College Information System (Banner).
Operate office machines such as copy machine, fax machine, etc.
Assist and orient learners with common online learning and classroom technology support tasks.
Organize materials including paper and electronic filing.
Assist in researching data and information from the College’s website or the College Information System (Banner).
Assist in reviewing online courses for quality assurance.
Assist learners and instructors in navigating successfully in their online courses.
Assist departmental personnel in other duties as needed.
Enter support tickets to assigned support personnel.
Enter and assign support tickets to appropriate personnel.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED equivalent
One year post high school education/training and
One year of related, paid full-time work experience. Additional work experience may be substituted for education, or additional education may be substituted for work experience.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Business English, math, spelling, punctuation and vocabulary
General office methods and techniques including filing systems
Must be proficient in Microsoft Office software
Knowledge of College Information System (Banner) helpful
Knowledge of College policies, procedures and operations helpful
Must be able to research the Internet
Follow written and oral instructions effectively
General knowledge of distance education practices and processes helpful
Excellent oral and written communication skills, (Ability to read, speak and write English)
Ability to establish rapport with a wide variety of people
Work with confidential information
Ability to work concurrently on multiple projects
Ability to follow written and oral instructions effectively
Ability to be pro-active and manage time wisely
